The goal of this course is to prepare Faith Community Nurses to promote health as wholeness within their faith community through the practice of nursing, with a central focus on spiritual health and wellbeing. Experienced FCNs are welcome to attend as well as registered nurses who are new to this specialty nursing practice.
The 2014 IPNRC/Church Health Center Faith Community Nurse Basic Preparation Curriculum curriculum will be utilized, which includes:
Spirituality – History and Philosophy of FCN; Health, Healing and Wholeness; Spiritual Care; Prayer; Self-Care
Professionalism – Ethical Issues; Documenting Practice; Legal Aspects; Beginning Your Ministry; Communication and Collaboration
Wholistic Health – Health Promotion; Behavioral Health; Transforming Life Issues – Family Violence, Suffering, Grief and Loss
Community – Assessment; Accessing Resources; Advocacy; Care Coordination
- Cost is $450, special discount to $400 for WNA members
- Each attendee will receive a copy of the 2014 Foundations of FCN Participant Guide prior to start of classes in order to complete self-study assignments.
- Participants must attend all scheduled meetings, complete all assignments and program evaluations prior to September 1 to receive the IPNRC Certificate of Completion*, and contact hours of Continuing Nursing Education credit** through the Wisconsin Nurses Association.
