• WNA continues to advocate for School Nurses requiring a minimum of a BSN to practice in the public school setting. 
  WNA Request Assembly Education Committee to Oppose the Repeal of Minimum of a BSN to Practice as a School Nurse. Please read testimony submitted June 2, 2011.

• Special Session Senate Bill 1 and Assembly Bill 1SB 657 referred as Quality Improvement Act (QIA). The bills include language that address decriminalization for unintentional medical errors

• WNA Testifies to Legislative Council Health Care Access Study Committee on the Status of Nursing Workforce and Opportunities for Sustaining a Nursing Workforce for the Future.
  • Background:  Gina Dennik-Champion, WNA Executive Director and Lobbyist testified on October 22,2010 in Milwaukee to inform the Health Care Access Study Committee about the role and value of nursing in preventive, primary and acute care, the sections of the 2010 Affordable Care Act that supports growing the nursing workforce and WNA’s response to the eight recommendations from the IOM Future of Nursing Report.
