Purpose: The Nurses Foundation of Wisconsin desires to provide financial assistance to a registered nurse in Wisconsin who demonstrates the potential of contributing to professional nursing in Wisconsin.

The successful candidate is pursuing a BSN completion program, graduate nursing degree, master’s degree, or Doctor in Nursing Practice (DNP) with preparation in a role other than an APRN or PhD in nursing.

Applications will be accepted until November 17, 2024. 

Award:
Up to $4,000 will be allocated for this year’s scholarships. Money to fund the scholarship is obtained through donations to NFW.

Qualifications:

  1. The candidate must have a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Wisconsin.
  2. The candidate must be a member of the Wisconsin Nurses Association.
  3. The candidate must provide verification of enrollment in a nursing degree program, BSN completion, master’s in nursing degree other than APRN or PhD in nursing program that are either NLN or CCNE accredited school of nursing.
  4. The candidate must be enrolled in the academic year following application.
  5. The candidate must demonstrate a potential to contribute to professional nursing in Wisconsin.
  6. The candidate must demonstrate a financial need.

Process: 

  1. Completed applications are accepted until November 17, 2024.
  2. Applications are reviewed by the NFW Educational Scholarships and Grants Committee, and names of selected awardees are submitted to the NFW Board of Directors for approval on November 18, 2024.
  3. The NFW President will notify applicants of the outcome of the awards process in December 2024.

Application Requirements:

  1. Applicant must complete the online application form and upload electronic copies of the following:
  2. Copy of the State of Wisconsin Certificate of Registration (State of WI RN License)
  3. Evidence of WNA membership
  4. Evidence of acceptance/enrollment in a BSN completion program, master’s or DNP nursing degree program, PhD program, at an NLN or CCNE- accredited School of       Nursing
  5. Curriculum vitae or resume
  6. Letter that identifies:
  7. Professional goals.
  8. How the applicant plans to contribute to professional nursing care in Wisconsin.
  9. Progress in his/her course of study (not to exceed one page, please)
  10. One letter of support addresses the applicant’s qualifications.
  11. Written description of financial need
