The goal of this course is to prepare Faith Community Nurses to promote health as wholeness within their faith community through the practice of nursing, with a central focus on spiritual health and wellbeing. Experienced FCNs are welcome to attend as well as registered nurses who are new to this specialty nursing practice.
The IPNRC/Church Health Center Faith Community Nurse Basic Preparation Curriculum will be utilized, which includes:
Spirituality – History and Philosophy of FCN; Health, Healing and Wholeness; Spiritual Care; Prayer; Self-Care
Professionalism – Ethical Issues; Documenting Practice; Legal Aspects; Beginning Your Ministry; Communication and Collaboration
Wholistic Health – Health Promotion; Behavioral Health; Transforming Life Issues – Family Violence, Suffering, Grief and Loss
Community – Assessment; Accessing Resources; Advocacy; Care Coordination
- Cost is $450, special discount to $400 for WNA members
- Each attendee will receive a copy of the 2014 Foundations of FCN Participant Guide.
- Participants must attend all scheduled meetings, complete all assignments and program evaluations prior to the deadline to receive the IPNRC Certificate of Completion*, and contact hours of Continuing Nursing Education credit** through the Wisconsin Nurses Association.

Lunches will be provided, however a refrigerator and microwave are available should you need to prepare food specific for your diet restrictions. Building is air conditioned – please dress in layers for comfort throughout the day.
