WNA's Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force is proud to offer this 5-part webinar series to increase nurse awareness about this epidemic through education, information, and identification of available resources.

Nancy Yarbrough is an award-winning advocate, trainer, author, and a leader in southeast Wisconsin’s response to human trafficking and domestic violence. In 2010, she founded Fresh Start Learning to address gaps in support for other survivors, with the tagline “Where new beginnings happen.” The Milwaukee nonprofit organization provides training, outreach, and advocacy in the areas of human trafficking response, domestic violence, and substance abuse treatment. . The organization offers a drop-in shelter, case management, support groups and mentoring, with a personal touch which results in many clients returning as volunteers once they are further along in their journey. In 2019, Nancy published her book The Exodus, which detailed her journey through hardships to empower other survivors to build a new beginning.

Senator LaTonya Johnson will provide a brief overview of the legislative process, advocacy, and citizen engagement as well as discuss state legislation related to human trafficking. AUSA Katie Ginsberg will present on the topic of human trafficking prosecutions. She will discuss the criminal statutes and penalties for these crimes that exist in Wisconsin, including an overview of state and federal laws.
