Opportunities for Medicaid Expansion in Wisconsin
Medicaid is a foundation of health care and 1.1 million Wisconsin residents rely on Medicaid for high-quality health care. Medicaid expansion is the lever that will infuse new federal dollars into the rest of our health care system. The Medicaid expansion will not only provide affordable health care coverage to 82,000 additional people, but it will save the state $324.5 million. The budget proposes to reinvest these savings in the health and well-being of every citizen to draw down a total of $1.6 billion in new federal funding. Governor Evers’ budget leverages this funding to make historic health care investments that will benefit all Wisconsinites.
This WNA webinar will provide an overview of the benefits of Medicaid Expansion and challenges for Wisconsin without expansion dollars. The webinar presenter is Julie Willems Van Dijk, RN, PhD, FAAN, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Health Services.
