Dear Nurse Colleague,
Now is the time to begin our strategic thinking and planning on how to best influence our state legislators and legislative candidates regarding the priorities for nursing for the next legislative biennium. We, the Nurses for Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Nurses Association are contacting you today to invite you and other nurse colleagues to join us in a meeting to develop a grass-roots advocacy and legislative strategy aimed at advancing legislation for the next legislative biennium. The two priorities that have been identified are nursing education (capacity and workforce), and increased autonomy for advanced practice registered nurses.
The process for educating and influencing our legislators requires a critical mass of nurses who are united and applying a strategic approach and message. We would like to bring together nurses like you, who are interested and enthusiastic about creating a grass-roots advocacy and legislative strategy that will focus on getting our legislative priorities introduced and passed.
You are invited to the Grass-roots Advocacy Workshop and Legislation Strategy Summit for Nursing for the Next Biennium. Please feel free to review the agenda. This meeting is scheduled for Friday evening June 3, from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm and Saturday, June 4, 2016 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. The meeting will be held at the Jefferson Street Inn in Wausau, WI. A block of rooms have been secured for June 3. Please call the Jefferson Street Inn at 715-845-6500 and mention Wisconsin Nurses Association to get the discount no later than Friday, May 13. Nursing contact hours will be awarded.
